Kevin Cochrane | Assistant Coach

Kevin Cochrane, assistant men's basketball coach, joined the GC Men's Basketball program in 2011 after his retirement from over thirty years in public education, most recently as Principal at Greenville High School.

During his career in education he taught physical education, social studies, psychology and sociology from levels K-12.  His coaching experience included football, baseball, track and 15 years coaching basketball at both the high school and junior high levels.

A graduate of Illinois State University, he lettered in baseball four years and met his wife Velma while a student.  He also received his MS from SIUE in Educational Administration.

Originally a Chicago native, growing up on the south side, Coach Cochrane has a deep appreciation for Illinois' great basketball history and is thrilled to be a part of helping add to that history as part of Coach Barber's staff.  He especially enjoys working with the incoming freshmen and members of the JV team, building relationships with them and helping them grow and improve both on and off the court.

Coach Cochrane and his wife Velma (Keeton of Pocahontas, IL) have 3 adult daughters, Sarah, Rebecca, and Katie and six grandchildren.
